Bernhard, who makes our visitors go into raptures with his beautiful eyes, belongs to a domesticated type of camel known as an alpaca. They are mainly bred for their wool. They are characterized by their calm and peaceful nature, which is why they are often used in animal-assisted therapy. Around 80 percent of the world's alpaca population lives in Peru, their home country. Bernhard and his girlfriend Silvia have lost their home in Germany. The owner had neglected them so badly that the veterinary office was forced to confiscate them. Bernhard and Silvia are now safe at Gut Aiderbichl!
