Henri, a Vorwerk cockerel, hatched in the incubator. Oskar Vorwerk is the breeder and namesake of the Vorwerk chickens, which he began breeding in 1902. Oskar Vorwerk was one of the better-off who had a large property with a villa at his disposal. In those days, poultry breeding was a popular hobby for these circles. Henri and a second cockerel and all the hens developed splendidly, but the cock-a-doodle-doo of the second cockerel soon led to problems with the neighbor. Slaughter or euthanasia were not an option for the owners, so they turned to Gut Aiderbichl's animal emergency center. Henri now calls the chickens from their sleep at the estate in Carinthia and all is well.
