Chicken Korbinian
Masthuhn
Korbinian is a broiler chicken - In chicken fattening, a distinction is made between conventional floor, free-range and organic farming. In conventional farming, broilers are kept in barns. Austria is the leader in terms of space, as Austrian chickens have up to 40 percent more space than the European average. In free-range systems, the animals have a protected run in addition to the barn. Organic chickens are also required to have an outdoor run in a varied environment. Organic chickens have access to the outdoors and are only fed organic feed The floors must be littered so that the animals can perform their natural behaviors such as pecking and scratching. Suitable bedding materials include wood shavings, grain husks and chopped straw. In Austria, it is forbidden to keep broiler chickens in barns without litter, and the feed for broiler chickens consists mainly of corn, wheat, soy, peas and sunflower seeds in varying proportions. To ensure that the animals receive an optimum supply of nutrients, they are also given minerals, vitamins, flower meal and vegetable fats. An adult chicken drinks 1/8 liter of water per day. For the well-being of the animals, it is important that all animals have easy access to fresh drinking water at all times, i.e. without crowding. The water in the coop must be of drinking quality.
