Lerche escaped a terrible fate at the very last minute. She and her fellow sufferers were to be shipped from the EU. Their destination: North Africa, where they were to be slaughtered without being stunned. Such transports, which can often take months, are unfortunately not uncommon. We receive reports of this time and again. We were able to help these four cattle, but they are just a symbol of so many lives that are not so lucky.
