Animals live what we humans long for. Their loyalty to their partners lasts a lifetime. So Nitty Gritty was confused and unsure when he suddenly found himself at the butcher. His beloved owner had turned his back on him. Nitty Gritty was to be killed, "disposed of". His meat was worthless. As his last hour struck, Nitty Gritty sat trembling in the death box.
