They live in groups and are very sociable animals. This fact is often forgotten when amateurs fulfill their dream of owning a parrot. There is also often a lack of prior research and full awareness of what a parrot needs for species-appropriate keeping. In addition to their intelligence, docility and loyalty, these animals are also very noisy, not particularly clean and can destroy many a piece of furniture. From this point onwards, most people find it too colorful and the parrot has to go. Schnucky probably suffered the same fate, but he was lucky. He ended up in the hands of a couple who ran a private sanctuary. When they had to close the farm for reasons of age, he became an Aiderbichler.
