Time and again we hear about pet owners shirking their responsibility. This usually involves dogs, cats or rabbits that are abandoned in the forest. But not paying the stall rent, no longer showing up at the farm and no longer being available is also tantamount to abandonment - the horses are left in the lurch and the stable owners are saddled with a burden that they are often unable to cope with. This is what happened to stable owners who turned to us in despair and asked us to take in Sheila, who had simply been left behind. Michael Aufhauser agreed - Shiela should stay in safe hands forever.
