Donkey Simona

In February 2024, we learned about a group of donkeys being kept in Italy in the most appalling conditions. 59 neglected animals were about to be slaughtered. An Italian animal welfare organization had managed to buy the donkeys at auction, rehabilitate them as best they could and place many of them. But there seemed to be no solution for 14 of the donkeys. Desperate, the animal rights activist turned to Gut Aiderbichl - and fortunately we were able to pledge our support. When we arrived on site, we were shocked by the condition of the donkeys. Many suffered from badly overgrown hooves and were in urgent need of medical care. Together, we managed to bring 12 donkey stallions and the two mares Franca and Simona to safety. Franca and Simona were able to start their new life at Gut Aiderbichl Henndorf. Here they have the chance to slowly recover and find their way back into life. Under the protection of Gut Aiderbichl, Simona finally gave birth to her little Sunny.
