Michael Aufhauser has always had a very special eye for animals. He was also very quick to recognize foals that would almost certainly be among the losers of the day and would most likely find themselves on a slaughter transport to Italy. He probably also saw this fate in Spirit. He bought him free and gave him the freedom that every horse should have. For this reason, foal number 85 now bears the name Spirit.
