Our deer
Why are there deer at Gut Aiderbichl?
Red deer have lost a large part of their natural habitat due to human activity. Many forests in Europe are used for forestry, and deer are often regarded as “pests”. As a result, red deer are driven away or hunted in many places. Some of our deer should also have met such a fate.
But it is not only forestry that is affecting the animals. Increasing asphalting, freeways with high fences and concrete banks are cutting up their habitats and increasing the risk of injury. Some of our deer have escaped precisely such threats – thanks to animal-loving people who have saved them from an uncertain fate. Unfortunately, it is often no longer possible to release them back into the wild, as these animals have already become too accustomed to humans. But we stand up for our native wild animals and give them a safe home at Gut Aiderbichl.
