Our guinea pigs
Why are there guinea pigs at Gut Aiderbichl?
Exposed to the wind and weather, their fur matted and their claws not trimmed – we have already been able to take in a few such cases at Gut Aiderbichl and give them a new, species-appropriate home. Many people who acquire a pet like a guinea pig underestimate the responsibility that a living creature brings with it. However, there are always animal-loving people who point out such cases to us.
Often guinea pigs are even abandoned in the woods or fields – which would mean a death sentence for them. Guinea pigs are sociable animals that should not be kept alone. But what should you do if one of your guinea pigs dies?
Often the surviving animals are then allowed to join the guinea pig family at Gut Aiderbichl. But even our space is limited. That is why we place guinea pigs with a lifelong special care place but never as individual animals.
