Our sheep
Why are there sheep at Gut Aiderbichl?
Many sheep that find a new home at Gut Aiderbichl have been kept in poor conditions – locked up in dark cellars, frightened and malnourished. In such cases, the veterinary office often intervenes and asks Gut Aiderbichl for help.
But neglect is not always the reason for taking them in. Sometimes the owners want to give their animals a good life, but can no longer guarantee this due to illness or a change in living conditions. In these cases, they turn to us with confidence.
Sheep often come to Gut Aiderbichl pregnant. In some cases this is the reason for their surrender, but sometimes it is an unexpected surprise. Some of our sheep were even born at Gut Aiderbichl and have been true “Aiderbichlers” from the very beginning.
The endangered sheep breeds, such as the Zackel sheep, are particularly close to our hearts. Even though they do not reproduce here, they are a symbol for the preservation and protection of old animal breeds.
