Our tigers
Why are there tigers at Gut Aiderbichl?
Tigers seem unusual for Gut Aiderbichl at first glance. But it shows: Every animal in need finds a place at Gut Aiderbichl. Sandy, Floy, Tango, Roxy and Sonya were raised by hand and were part of the “Moscow Circus”. However, the coronavirus pandemic, a lack of visitors and a personal stroke of fate ruined their trainer’s health and finances. As the animals are imprinted on humans, it is impossible to release them back into the wild. However, housing them requires elaborate security measures. Many organizations hesitated in the face of this challenging project. But Gut Aiderbichl decided: “Looking the other way is not an option!”
Thanks to the generous support of a long-time Aiderbichl resident, the tigers were able to be housed in a species-appropriate enclosure built especially for them on the grounds of the Liska Animal Park Zoo in Romania. Tigers are threatened with extinction. Offering some of them refuge at Gut Aiderbichl fills us with great pride.
