Our wild boars
Why are there wild boars
at Gut Aiderbichl?
Humans are continuing to expand their habitat. In doing so, we are increasingly depriving wild boar of their natural habitat. Conflicts between humans and animals inevitably arise on these areas.
Many of the wild boars at Gut Aiderbichl were found by humans when they were still young and raised with lots of love. But unlike their relatives, the domestic pigs, wild boars remain wild animals – and they are not suitable as pets.
If at some point nobody can or wants to look after them, they will end up at Gut Aiderbichl. Releasing them back into the wild would not be a good option for these animals: they have got to know humans at their best – they have often lost their natural fear of us and hunters as a result. This is why our wild boars are allowed to stay at Gut Aiderbichl in safety until the end of their natural lives.
