Farewell to our dear Mr. Head
We will miss you!
A few days ago, we had to say goodbye to a friend who will always remain in our memories with his character. In 2013, Mr. Head, the then 12-year-old tomcat, found his way to Gut Aiderbichl. His owners parted ways. This was particularly bitter for Mr. Head, who not only lost his caregivers, but also his home. Neither party was able to take the aged cat home with them.
A shelter was out of question, because Mr. Head was not a "normal" cat - he had a handicap that would probably scare off any prospective buyer. Unfortunately, he lost his right front paw in a horrible act of violence.
But where to put a cat that nobody seems to want? At Gut Aiderbichl he not only found a home, but also a friend for life. Estate manager Maria Kaindl had lost her heart to the cat with the emerald green eyes. She spent many hours with him, they cuddled together and gave each other a lot of support and warmth. He never gave the impression that he couldn't cope with his handicap or that he was struggling with his fate.
But we noticed that our friend was not well. Again and again he spurned his food. No treat seemed to taste good. We took him often to our vet, who had been looking after him for a long time. She confirmed exactly what we had always suspected: Mr. Head's age had now struck with all its severity. The old cat was losing his strength. At the age of 18, we had to let him go peacefully over the Rainbow Bridge. In the presence of his Maria, his eyes closed forever and he passed on to an even better world.
Dear Mr. Head, we are grateful that we were allowed to accompany you on your way, that we were allowed to care for you in your old age - we will never forget you!
