Champ has left the power

Champi, as we affectionately called him, had crept into the hearts of all the people who were allowed to get to know him during the last 10 years.

Almost 10 years ago, little Chihuaha Champ came out of a shelter in the USA with questioning eyes. At that time Hugo, Cedar, Loky, Molly and Manchita had been rescued from a shelter with him.
Two Aiderbichl women had contacted Michael Aufhauser and told him about the kill shelters in the USA. Shelters are rescue centers for pets, where dogs or cats are handed over and hope for a new home with loving people. Those who are not adopted have to die.

When Champ and his friends landed at Munich Airport in October 2012, he was to celebrate his 7th birthday one day later - in freedom and surrounded by people who loved him and with his dog friends he had brought with him from America.

Champi was still very young when he moved into a big dog room together with his friends. Every day of his life he greeted everyone joyfully: the caregivers and his new friend Mira, a pretty female beagle. Champi developed into a little Punch - human sadness or stress were blown away by his loyal, funny googly eyes and by his doggy smile.

He was a master at snuggling and cuddling. Champi was gentle with everyone and enjoyed his life to the fullest.
In the mealtime, he would just come flying in - food was delightful and treats were even more delightful. Out of joy, he spun in circles and squealed and barked and loved his life. Champi was also dog world champion in finding treats, no matter where: on the dog run between the tires, hidden in a sniffing carpet or in the hand of his caretaker Sabine - everything was fine with him.

Every life candle begins to burn dimmer at some point, and so it should be with Champi. A few weeks ago, we noticed that the things that had always meant so much to him were becoming more burdensome.
He was tired and quieter, and he also stopped doing happy dances when the food bowl was filled. Brave little Chihuaha Champ wanted to rest, sleep, cuddle and have his peace.

The little feet were visibly weaker and did not want to go to the dog run anymore. These excursions, which had always given Champi great pleasure, became less and less.

A few days ago, there was only one thing left to do: to hold Champi's paws and be with him when he wearily took the first step to the Rainbow Bridge. His heart was too weak and an angel took him away, little Champi from America.

We will never forget you, Champi. Your story will remind us to treat animals with respect.

You always had only one goal: to give us your big heart.
Take care, Champi
