Obituary Lia

We are all deeply saddened. Our little Lia went over the Rainbow Bridge completely unexpectedly on Thursday, the 12th of August. We still remember as if it was yesterday when we picked up little Lia from a farmer in Pinzgau. She was completely exhausted and only a few hours old. During the car ride, we tried to offer her milk, but unfortunately she didn't have enough strength for that, so we warmed her in our arms the whole car ride. When we arrived in Henndorf, we tried in vain to feed her some milk with the tip, but the little one simply had no reflex to swallow. So animal keeper Eva immediately made her way to the veterinary clinic and Lia was given infusions and vitamins. The vet said that there was less than a 30% chance that Lia would survive the first night. But Eva refused to believe this and tried to feed Lia every 30 minutes. Shortly before midnight, the time had come and the little sheep drank from the bottle alone for the first time. At that moment Eva was so incredibly happy and would have loved to hug the whole world.

And so there was hope for little Lia, because at every feeding she drank more milk and started to really enjoy it. Day by day, she became fitter and she spent her nights at Eva's home, who continued to feed her every hour. From the beginning, little Lia was a real heartbreaker, as all the staff at the farm immediately fell in love with her and she was even allowed to stay overnight with some of them. For the first month, Lia always slept in a cosy warm bed with our animal keepers, especially Eva. When Lia no longer needed her bottle so often, she joined Ben, Larry and Paul in the stable. She immediately got on very well with her new sheep gang and they learned from each other and made the yard unsafe. Lia grew bigger every day and started eating more and more hay and by about the end of May she didn't want a bottle anymore and had now officially joined her sheep family and was enjoying every single day.

Personal words from Eva to Lia:

Dear Lia,
Even though you were only with us for a few months,
I've grown so fond of you.
Raising you has brought us together.
I will miss the cuddles with you and the walks around the farm.
You greeted me every morning with a "meow".
On Friday lunchtime, I fed you and you really let yourself enjoy it.
The shock was all the greater later in the afternoon when a colleague called me
and told me that your heart had stopped.
The time with you was simply far too short - we hope you are in a better place now,
where you can run through the pastures with your friend Paul.❤️
I can't put into words how much I miss you.❤️
Thank you for letting me be your foster mum.

Take care, little Lia ❤️
