Roswitha

a cat with a history

Roswitha was a special cat from the very beginning. Hidden under the bonnet of a car, she had apparently made the journey from Mattsee to Gut Aiderbichl in Henndorf. The car owners parked their car and spent a wonderful day at the Animal Visitor Centre - In the meantime, Roswitha drew attention to herself under the bonnet and shrill cries could be heard in the car park. Soon the stowaway was discovered, freed and Roswitha was taken to the veterinary clinic to make sure no harm had come to her health. The frightened cat calmed down and the vets told us her sweet secret: Roswitha had four kittens in her tummy.

From now on, Roswitha lived in the cat living room at Gut Aiderbichl Henndorf. Rather withdrawn and shy, sometimes also sceptical - unfortunately we could not find out what she had been up to. More and more, the animal keepers got the impression that Roswitha did not feel so comfortable in our beautiful cat living room and so they considered moving her to the cat villa at Gut Aiderbichl Deggendorf.

It was probably the right decision. The cat villa has several rooms that are wonderfully cosy and species-appropriate for cats. Countless cat beds were waiting for Roswitha or Rosi, as she was called by the animal keepers. She quickly chose the most comfortable bed and almost seemed to smile a little at her new happiness.

Whether visitors or keepers, everyone was greeted by Rosi, purring lovingly and comfortably. Being petted, cuddling with the keepers, lying on the bench in the sun in front of the house...all these became Rosi's favourite activities.
Rosi's absolute favourite place was the washing machine as her eating place. She sat down there and demanded the milk. She enjoyed the cat food with relish and then took a nap in honour.

Over the years, our Rosi became more tired and sickly. A few days ago, the vet gently prepared us for Rosi's last days. We knew that there was no more medicine that could help her sick kidneys. Rosi's eyes looked tired and wanted to be allowed to close.

For our beloved, special cat Rosi with the great story, there was no more chance of recovery and we had to say goodbye with heavy hearts.
Rosi was something special. She was loved by her fellow cats and by people. In her modesty, she was elegant and knew exactly what she wanted.
We will miss you, Rosi. You will remain in our hearts. Your eyes will shine as stars from the sky in the night, and we will feel that they are yours.

Darkness is around you now, from now on we carry your light
