Obituary cat Luise
Her story has touched people deeply
Luise was discovered over 10 years ago by an animal carer on his way to work at the side of the road. He stopped and found a completely exhausted young cat in front of him. Her eyes were clogged, her nose was bleeding and her overall appearance suggested that she had had a terrible time. Animal keeper Herbert, who was on night duty that day, took the cat up to Gut Aiderbichl in Henndorf and informed a vet about his foundling.
Luise's overall condition was miserable and sad at the same time
The then two-year-old cat was taken to a nearby veterinary clinic and thoroughly examined. Her bloody nose and swollen eyes were treated with medication. An ultrasound scan showed that Luise was carrying lifeless kittens in her stomach. She had to be operated on to remove her almost decomposed kittens from her dehydrated body. An animal tragedy that ended in a happy ending despite all the suffering.

The appetite was great and Luise's body became healthy again
The operation went well and the next day Luise started to eat – she had a lot of catching up to do. Soon she was able to move into the cat living room at Gut Aiderbichl in Henndorf and be cared for and pampered.
And Luise was to be lucky again: she was given a wonderful, loving foster home by Werner and Bärbel. These two animal-loving people certainly managed to heal Luise’s soul. The ten years until her sudden death were full of love and care and Luise felt especially safe and happy with all the cats living with Werner and Bärbel.
Stray cats do not have an easy life
Many of the stray animals are malnourished and live on waste. The suffering is particularly bad for pregnant or nursing mothers, as Luise again confirmed. Each unspayed female cat can have up to twelve kittens a year. Gut Aiderbichl started the neutering project for cats in Salzburger Land in 2024. In the meantime, we also help strays in Carinthia, Styria and neighbouring Bavaria – there is no end in sight.Gut Aiderbichl’s cooperation partners are qualified local and regional vets.

Losing a good animal is like losing a loyal friend.

Dear Luise,
we are glad that you were able to spend many years with people who love animals and that you felt what it means to be cared for and loved. Take care, dear Luise;
