Obituary Dog Sedar and Lazy

The end of one-sided love

Whoever is cruel to animalscannot be a good person.Arthur Schopenhauer

Sedar was nearly tortured to death

The mixed-breed dog Sedar was born in Hungary and was one year old when she was discovered by walkers in the forest. The logical thing to do would have been to help the dog and take her to a vet, almost frozen and half-starved. But things turned out differently. She was tied to the walkers’ car and dragged along until her paws were bloody. She was then left lying on the side of the road. Thanks to an old, animal-loving lady who found her half-dead, little Sedar survived.

Sedar lived with her rescuer for some time until she sadly passed away. The lady’s children handed the dog over to an animal killing centre in Hungary. Her photo appeared on Facebook and an Austrian woman made sure that Sedar could become an Aiderbichler.

Why dogs like Sedar are indispensable

Sedar wanted to be a friend and was tortured for it. If people were more knowledgeable about the importance of dogs, perhaps they would stop torturing them.
The relationship between humans and dogs is unique because they are more than just pets. They are soul mates, saviours in times of need and mirrors of human emotions.
Dogs love their owners unconditionally. While interpersonal relationships are characterised by expectations, misunderstandings and disappointments, a dog always remains loyal.

The relationship with Sedar’s animal carers at Gut Aiderbichl

During the 13 years she spent at Gut Aiderbichl in Henndorf, Sedar showed a remarkable sensitivity to the emotions of her humans. She was able to sense whether the people around her were happy, sad or perhaps stressed. Sedar’s empathy helped to solve and ease problems. She snuggled up to people when they were sad or frolicked around when things were particularly funny in the dog’s living room.

Sedar began to ache

Our dog Sedar was getting on in years and at almost 14 years old, not only was the fur around her eyes and muzzle greying, but health problems were also becoming apparent, which we tried to alleviate with all the options available to us.

Sedar continued to enjoy her life until a few weeks ago, when the symptoms of old age became increasingly apparent. Despite this, Sedar seemed content and seemed to have come to terms with the aches and pains of old age.
During a walk, however, the animal carer noticed that Sedar was swaying and suddenly seemed weak.

The journey to the clinic was to be her last

Sedar and a pet carer sat in the back seat of the car that was to take her to the vet clinic. The carer stroked Sedar incessantly and felt Sedar’s heart beating weaker and weaker. In the animal clinic, the vet suddenly looked sadly at the animal carers. Sedar’s heart had stopped beating. Sedar’s humans stood there deeply saddened and cried for a great friend. Deeply saddened, they drove back to Gut Aiderbichl without Sedar.

Lazy’s sick owner gave them into the care of Gut Aiderbichl years ago

11 years ago, a seriously ill dog owner had to give up her two pets – Lazy and Mylo (both 4 years old at the time). Her life situation had changed and she could no longer care for her two dogs.

She was relieved that she had taken out animal insurance with Gut Aiderbichl for the two dogs. Now, in her difficult life situation, she knew that Lazy and Mylo were well looked after.

Some people fear the high costs of such insurance. Michael Aufhauser said years ago “… but please, insuring a cat or a dog can cost as much as a daily packet of cigarettes or a mechanic’s lesson …”.

Lazy lived at Gut Aiderbichl in Iffeldorf for many years

Lazy spent eleven long, wonderful years at Gut Aiderbichl in Iffeldorf and was a good friend to her keepers. Life was wonderful among all the other dogs, she loved going for walks and her fantastic dog room. Lazy loved lying in the sun, being stroked and listening to the words of her carers.

Lazy was getting on in years at 16 …

We realise that animals sometimes lose their strength very quickly due to age or illness. And it is also the case that animals show us with their behaviour: “My time to say goodbye has come”. They turn their heads away from the food bowl, they don’t even take the very best treat and their eyes look in a different direction. To a land where there is no more pain and illness. A land where the sun always shines and where all the animals are happy and content.

Lazy was found in her room a few days ago with breathing difficulties and the elderly dog was immediately taken to the clinic. There, the doctors tried to help Lazy and stabilise her, but her heart closed the door. Lazy closed her eyes and fell asleep for good.

Memory is a window through which I can see you whenever I want.

Dear Sedar, dear Lazy,

Your life stories are more different than you can imagine. Sedar, who was tortured and abused by humans. Lazy, whose owner loved her dearly and provided for her.

Two great human friends have closed their eyes and what remains is the feeling that they were important to us humans. Because torturing an animal is the worst thing of all and loving and caring for an animal is the most beautiful thing you can do to a furry friend.

So long, you two girls – Sedar and Lazy, you will remain unforgotten in our hearts. Two new stars give us light in the evening when we think about how important animals are to us humans.
