Obituary horse Annabell
Annabell - a graceful beauty
Annabell became an Aiderbichler in 2005 at the age of four. Up to that point, her young life had been ups and downs. In all the years before her admission to Gut Aiderbichl, Annabell had a great protector who never lost sight of his “little horse Annabell”.
Annabell lost her mum too soon
Josef was the saviour who lovingly accompanied Annabell through her life, as her mother mare died too soon. He came to see his beloved Annabell as often as he could. He helped raise the foal and had lost his heart to the young horse. However, he was not the owner and was unable to intervene when Annabell was broken in at the age of three. Perhaps she was not destined for a successful career, as Annabell was to be slaughtered at the age of four. This is done with animals that no longer perform.
The box was empty and the search for the foal began
Josef was shocked when he stood in front of the empty horse box one day. He asked where the horse was and set off in search of the butcher where Annabell was thought to be. Josef actually found his Annabell there and was able to buy her back just in time. His luck was perfect, as Gut Aiderbichl also agreed to take Annabell in.
The friends Annabell, Carisma and Marenzi
At Gut Aiderbichl, Annabell made friends with Carisma and their lives seemed perfect. Carisma was a former riding school horse, sometimes had problems with her lungs and had to be kept dust-free. She too would have been taken to slaughter if Gut Aiderbichl had not been able to buy Carisma from the horse dealer in 2005.
Annabell and her friend Carisma enjoyed the wide open pastures at Gut Aiderbichl. They were later joined by their friend Marenzi, a former galloper. He had been a famous racehorse and was “retired” due to an injury. Marenzi and Annabell spent their time together in Gut Aiderbichl Henndorf’s A stable until a year ago.
Annabell's quiet farewell loomed on the horizon
Over the years, Annabell’s problems with osteoarthritis had become worse and worse. We were also very worried about a cyst on her lower jaw. Thank goodness this cyst had appeared in winter so that the flies could not reach the wound. Annabell was given a mask to protect the treatment area on her jaw so that the wound could heal properly after the medical treatment. Everything was done to relieve Annabell’s pain and nurse her back to health. No therapies and treatments were spared to treat Annabell’s osteoarthritis over the years and improve her quality of life.
In the last few weeks, however, we had to accept that Annabell was declining. The light of life began to flicker uneasily. She was only 23 years old, but Annabell decided on her new path. She indicated that she wanted to go to her friend Carisma and her Marenzi. Quietly, peacefully and with one last soft sigh, Annabell fell asleep and closed her beautiful eyes forever. A great one had gone.
The Rainbow Bridge is a place full of joy and timelessness for you, even if this means that it is now time to say goodbye.
If my love found a way to heaven and beautiful memories had steps, I would climb up and bring you back.
Dear Annabell,
It’s as if it were yesterday. Josef is standing in the courtyard in Henndorf, waiting for a surprise that Michael Aufhauser has announced. Everything is decorated for Christmas, with soft music playing in the background. And then you snort softly and warmly at your Josef and this man starts to cry out of sheer joy that you have suddenly returned from France. And I can still hear the one sentence he kept repeating: “Annabell, my Annabell. My Annabell, what a joy!”.It remains an unforgettable moment for everyone who was able to experience it: There was expectation, love and a wonderful atmosphere of the reunion of a horse and a human being.
It hurts that you are no longer here – but this memory with the encounter as just described will remain unforgotten in our hearts. Take care, dear Annabell.
