Obituary horse Tuxedomoon
siding after his racing career
If people say: 'It's "just" a horse', then let them talk because they 'just' don't understand.

The elegance and cleverness of the English thoroughbred
Tuxi had everything an English thoroughbred should have: It had an elegant appearance, was powerful, fast and had stamina. He was smart, alert and quick on the uptake. Tuxi was spirited and sensitive to the end and reacted strongly to his environment and the people around him. For many years of his life, Tuxi was used in racing and was successful. After his racing career, nobody wanted him anymore. Imagine a challenge cup – that’s what happened to the racehorse Tuxedomoon. Again and again a new owner, until one day a young woman found out about him.
A new ray of hope in Tuxi's neglected existence
Tuxi’s story tightened her throat and she bought Tuxedomoon free sight unseen and was to experience happiness and love once again.
When the woman saw him for the first time, Tuxedomoon was emaciated and his hooves were neglected. He was left to his own devices. Gone were the days of petting and caressing when he was still a great racer. Abandoned because he hadn’t performed as well as was expected of him for years.
Tuxi developed confidence … but the wheel of fate turned again
Tuxedomoon’s rescuer invested a lot of money and, above all, time in her Tuxi and he seemed to enjoy it. At last there was petting again, coat care, hoof care, dentist, delicious, nutritious food – Tuxi’s eyes began to calm down: Yes, they were shining at this wonderful care. Tuxi trusted the hands and soft voice of his saviour. As if struck by lightning, everything changed again. Tuxi’s rescuer received a devastating diagnosis: glass bone. While holding her beloved Tuxi’s hoof, she broke her leg and it was clear that it would be impossible to look after Tuxi herself in the future.
And yet there was light again in this vale of tears. Tuxi was able to go to Gut Aiderbichl Eslarn, where she was able to visit him again and again because she was so close to his rescuer.
Gut Aiderbichl Eslarn became Tuxi's new forever home
Tuxi was given an extra thick bed of straw. He enjoyed being stroked by the keepers and even his almost 20 years didn’t stop him from reminiscing about old times from time to time, remembering that he was a racehorse and galloping across the wide pastures. He galloped as lightly as the wind, his mane blowing in the breeze and his eyes shining. Everything went well for years, but a few weeks ago we had to say goodbye to Tuxi. He died as a result of pneumonia. The doctors did everything they could to save Tuxi, but it was not to be. The keepers were with Tuxi until his last breath as he closed his eyes and slowly prepared for his last gallop. He calmly took the steps of the Rainbow Bridge until we could no longer see him. It was a peaceful, quiet way, disappearing more and more into the horizon. Tuxi’s soul stayed a while longer.
Farewell to Tuxi
My dear Tuxi, noble steed,
Now you stand still in the eternal castle.
Your heart of gold, your spirit so pure,
Will always be part of me, my friend.
Black was your dress, so proud, so clear,
A storm of strength, yet wonderful.
A king on the racecourse far,
Borne by the wind.
You flew at a gallop, as if the wind was deceptive,
Victory was the child of your nature.
Yet despite the victories, glory and power,
You have always laughed gently and faithfully.
Unforgotten you will remain, great hero,
Your name echoes in this world.
You will be in my heart,
My faithful friend, my sunshine.
Now you’re galloping through wide open spaces,
In peace, free from all trace.
Farewell, my Tuxi, and thank you,
Your rank remains in my heart.
Dear Tuxi,
Your saviour sends you this poem as a final greeting. So much love no longer needs to be discussed, accept it and don’t forget the people who loved you and whom you trusted. Take care, dear Tuxi.
