Obituary Rambo

Rambo suffered a lot and enjoyed his life for a short time

"Happiness is the sum of many joyful moments. It is in your power what you make of the moment."

Two siblings, Rambo and Rocky, had come to a Turkish family as puppies, but the family gave the dogs up again because they were unable to cope with the animals’ handicaps. Both Rocky and Rambo had deformed front and hind legs. The floor at the shelter was far too uneven for them to walk without difficulty.

Luckily, Rambo and his sister Rocky were discovered by animal-loving people at this shelter. The sad, pain-filled eyes of the two dogs almost tore their hearts apart and they were desperate to get Rocky and Rambo out of there.

They were to have a good life and Gut Aiderbichl agreed to take in the two dogs and also to allow further operations on their deformed legs. All the necessary vaccinations were administered, the transport boxes were ready and the plane to their new home could take off.

Sceptical dog eyes followed the scenario around them. Aiderbichl staff were already waiting for Rambo and Rocky at the airport. An exciting first few minutes were to show the dogs that everyone here meant well by them. The journey continued to Carinthia, where everything was already set up for the new dog guests and their needs.

A lot of the surroundings were unfamiliar and Rambo in particular was a little sceptical at first. However, he enjoyed the flat, easy walks on the estate in Carinthia. It was quiet and cosy here and Rambo loved lying in the sun with his sister Rocky and daydreaming. Rambo also liked to withdraw when he just wanted to be by himself and particularly enjoyed being stroked by a human hand.

Rambo’s sister Rocky was always the one who motivated her brother to play. Sometimes she got really pushy until Rambo finally stood up and played happily with her and the other dogs in the yard.

Unfortunately, the medication was no longer able to give Rambo a pain-free life. It became increasingly difficult for our four-legged friend to sit up and then stay on his feet. Rocky sensed what was going on and never left her brother’s side.
Together with the vet, the team decided to release Rambo for the land without pain. His little light of life had been allowed to burn for a few years, but now the flame was getting weaker and weaker. Quietly and peacefully, Rambo fell asleep. His Rocky and all the animal carers accompanied Rambo’s soul to the big dog meadow on the other side of life.

“And there are always traces of your life, thoughts, images and moments. They will remind us of you, make us happy and sad and never let us forget you.”</h5

Dear Rambo,
Your life story has touched people deeply. Thank you for allowing us to be your companions for a while.
The great love in your too-short life was your sister Rocky, who said goodbye to you, her brother, very quietly. We will take good care of her, we promise you that, dear Rambo. Now we miss your dark, trusting dog eyes, which told us so much when we took the time to read them.
Take care, dear Rambo, and enjoy the wide open spaces. You will stay in the hearts of your people.
