HAPPY END dog Monty

How is little Monty?

The suffering of Romania’s street dogs continues…

Remember our little Monty? The white puppy with the severe viral infection called Parvo? Thanks to the loving care and medical attention at Gut Aiderbichl Romania, Monty has made it: he is healthy – and ready for new adventures! Now he is longing for a loving home.

Monty is safe. But countless street dogs are still suffering! Time and again, we receive urgent emergencies – from animal welfare organisations desperately trying to rescue as many dogs as possible from the numerous killing stations in Romania. There are hundreds of these centres throughout the country, and the conditions there are often appalling. The Smeura killing centre, the largest of its kind, can house up to 6,000 dogs. The misery of these animals has long since turned into a lucrative business model – with structures that sometimes have a mafia-like feel to them.

The question “How can something like this happen?” is easy to ask, but difficult to answer. Many causes intertwine – poverty, lack of education, political inaction. We at Gut Aiderbichl cannot change this situation on our own. But we can help – and that is exactly what we do. Thanks to the generous support of our Aiderbichlers, who have stood by us for years with donations and adoptions, we have already been able to give many animals a new life. With your help, we are not only able to save dogs like Monty, but also to reduce suffering in the long term through neutering – even for those dogs that we cannot take in directly.

Carla is another example of how important and valuable this help is. She was discovered heavily pregnant at a popular fishing spot – abandoned and alone. Our employee Nicky didn’t hesitate for a second, took Carla home and accompanied her through the birth. Three days later, Carla gave birth to five adorable puppies. Without our support, they would hardly have had a chance.

Three nameless puppies, who were simply dumped in a cardboard box outside our shelter, are now also benefiting from our care. They are being given medical care, vaccinated and lovingly raised – until they are ready for their own home. And we very much hope that we will also find people for them who will give them love, security and safety.

If you also give an animal from our would like to give an animal from our animal welfare programme a safe future: Gut Aiderbichl places dogs on a so-called special foster place. This means that you offer an animal a species-appropriate, loving “forever home” – and at the same time assume full responsibility. But one thing always remains the same: The animal remains an “Aiderbichler” forever.
