15 guinea pigs in Iffeldorf
15 princesses at Gut Aiderbichl
A royal entry into the small animal encounter zone in Iffeldorf
Nearly 15 aristocratic ladies have moved into their new sanctuary: Gut Aiderbichl Iffeldorf is now home to guinea pigs, in a newly designed area for small animals. This little royal company is really pretty to look at with their long manes. The guinea pig ladies come from the care of a breeder who – as befits a good maid – has always lovingly looked after her animals. But life wrote a new chapter: for personal reasons, she had to turn her back on her home in Switzerland and move south. She couldn’t take her fluffy princesses with her, because it’s simply too hot for guinea pigs there.
Why heat is taboo for our princesses
Our guinea pig ladies wear dense fur coats, but this royal chic comes at a price: Guinea pigs are extremely sensitive to heat. They have no sweat glands and can only cool down slightly by panting and dissipating heat via their ears. Their roots lie in South America, more precisely in the cool altitudes of the Andes (2,500-4,000 m above sea level). It is sunny there, but not hot.
Ankunft im neuen Palast
At Gut Aiderbichl, you can now enjoy the last days of summer in the cool shade of your new home. Once they arrived in Iffeldorf, the first order of business was: off to the hairdressing salon! The 16 ladies got their furs properly groomed before they were allowed to get used to their new surroundings.

Audience at eye level
They are soon ready to receive their first visitors. However, anyone wishing to visit our guinea pig princesses in the small animal encounter zone must abide by their rules:
Audience only at eye level: Guinea pigs don’t like being held in your arms. Sit on the floor with them to gain their trust.
Patience and calm are the key: Guinea pigs don’t like loud noises or hectic movements. If you stay calm, you can enjoy the curious noses of Estelle, Ariane, Sofia, Victoria, Meghan, Leonore, Josephine, Lalla Salma, Ingrid Alexandra, Elisabeth, Diana, Charlotte, Kate, Aiko and Amalia. .
