Angel and Amor

surprised all

Angel and Amor are two Jura sheep and they were taken in at Gut Aiderbichl Henndorf when they were barely two weeks old. A sheep farmer had found two newborn lambs in the enclosure. He knew nothing about the pregnancy of the mother sheep. She was not producing any milk and he had no time to bottle-feed the two young Jura sheep. Time was pressing, because the two newborns had not been fed for hours. In the meantime, they were taken to the animal help centre in Hollabrunn, where they went in search of freshly sheep's milk and began to feed them. Both lambs gained weight, developed splendidly and enjoyed their lives. Now they found their forever home in Henndorf.

The Jurassic Sheep

The Jura sheep originates from Switzerland, where it is known as the black and brown mountain sheep. The Jura sheep was bred from the Jura, Saanen, Simmental, Frutig sheep and Roux des Bagnes native to Switzerland. The breed is medium sized, deep and broad, with a black-brown coat. The head and the legs are uncoated and shiny black or brown haired. The ears are medium long. The Jura sheep is mainly bred in Germany and Austria. Interesting breed characteristics are the robustness as well as the resistance to diseases and climatic influences.

Batman and Mowgli got two lively siblings

Batman was rescued by an animal-loving family. Immediately after his birth, it was noticed that little Batman had a walking disability. He could not stand up on his own and so the mother sheep unfortunately did not accept him. It was assumed that he would never be able to move his legs. The family took good care of him and, after a few days, he was able to move better and better, contrary to all expectations. Now Batman has become a big brother to Mogli, Angel and Amor. Together the four little sheep cuddle in their stable and we think they will soon go to the big meadow. For the time being, the two youngest, Angel and Amor, still have to be bottle-fed. Hungry and greedy for the milk, they lift their little black heads to reach the bottle and then let the milk flow into their hungry little bellies. After drinking, Angel and Cupid are naturally tired and cuddle up to Mowgli. Batman lies protectively in front of his little friends.

Happy bleating encourages us

Not only because Angel and Amor are still so small and in need of help, they are worth protecting. Gut Aiderbichl succeeds through the experience and skill of the animal keepers to help animals out of their distress and to give them a safe home without ifs and buts.
