Maine-Coon Björn
ignored the vets' prognoses
Björn is a pretty silver-grey Maine Coon cat. She broke her spine after falling from a bed in her previous owners’ flat. The fall resulted in numerous other injuries and health problems, and Björn’s care became very complex.
The family had a small baby to care for and asked Gut Aiderbichl’s animal emergency centre for help and to take in their Björn.
"Could you imagine taking Björn in ....?"
Björn’s bed had been lovingly installed on the walls of the flat. One day, Björn fell from one of the beds, the fall was too “short”, Björn couldn’t turn and broke his spine.
Three vets were consulted. The prognoses were not the best. Nevertheless, Björn had learnt to walk again, to jump onto the couch, she climbed onto the scratching post and also used her litter tray again.
The problem that remained was bladder weakness due to damaged nerve cords. She drew a line of urine through the flat. Due to the accident, however, Björn can no longer clean herself well and her soiling of the anus became increasingly annoying.
So the family had a baby, a cat with hygiene problems, a flat that needed more cleaning than before Björn’s accident. Euthanising was not an option, Gut Aiderbichl seemed to be the best idea.
The "rotation" of the cat
If the cat falls from a height, it turns during the fall and lands on its four paws. However, if the time from the start of the fall to landing on the ground is too short, the cat will not have time to turn and will injure itself.
Björn had broken his spine and the ordeal began. It is well known that cats have great healing powers. Today, Björn can jump and play around again. She has healed herself by purring. A cat’s purr generates its own frequency, which ensures that broken bones and other injuries or illnesses can heal quickly.
Björn's new family
Björn has found a loving foster home “for life”, where he has some mates to cuddle and play with.
Her fur has grown back nicely, Björn can jump without any major problems, sharpen her claws on the scratching post, play with the other cats or simply cuddle up on the couch.
She is “clean” again – it just took a little time for her mobility to improve so that she can groom herself like a healthy cat.
An operation on his hip is still pending, but the vet is confident that everything will go well and Björn can lead a problem-free cat’s life.
Life without a cat is possible, but pointless.
