Cat Micki

The question of "why"

Micki the cat was simply abandoned

The gentle purring of a cat, the curious twinkling eyes and the soft fur – that’s what many people long for. It is these special moments of peace and affection with pets that enrich our everyday lives and always bring a smile to our faces.

Animal husbandry is responsibility

Having animals is not just about cuddling, it is also a great responsibility. Unfortunately, many people are not aware of this fact. Just go on a spontaneous holiday? That’s not so easy with a pet. Who can provide reliable care during this time? Cats are attached to their home and don’t want to move to an animal shelter. Vet costs, insurance, food, toys and care products – these are all factors that many people underestimate when they decide to get a pet. And these costs are not a one-off, but accompany you for many years.

The average life expectancy of a cat is 12 to 16 years; in exceptional cases, cats can live even longer. Unfortunately, we see pets being abandoned for these reasons all too often.

This fate has also befallen Micki the cat. The white and grey tabby cat looks anxiously out of his transport box, shivering from the cold. We don’t know exactly how long he had to wait in his box at the motorway service station before he was found near the A1 motorway between Salzburg and Linz. The fact is, however, that he was deliberately left there.

Suspension is never a solution

But luckily there are people who look closely. One woman saw the transport box with Micki at the motorway service station and knew immediately that Gut Aiderbichl Henndorf was nearby.

Micki has now slowly recovered and is settling in well in the cat’s living room. But the question of “why” remains: Why do I just leave a helpless creature alone?

We at Gut Aiderbichl do not admonish with a raised index finger, but we still appeal to all pet owners – or those who want to become one: Think carefully about acquiring a pet. Of course, there are sometimes situations where you don’t know what to do – but abandonment is never a solution. Please think of the animals.

Cat Micki

Micki was abandoned in a box near a highway ramp. Fortunately, the pretty cat was found by an animal lover who picked Micki up and brought him to Gut Aiderbichl Henndorf. Micki has settled in…
