Cat Psira
A name - as warm as the Greek sun
In January of this year, a young family urgently asked us to take in their Psira because their child was extremely allergic to the cat and had already been hospitalised several times due to the severe allergy. Dieter Ehrengruber did not hesitate and took Psira in. She has now been living at Gut Aiderbichl Maria Schmolln for a few weeks. Integrated into the cat and – surprise – dog family there.
The word Psira comes from the Greek and means “louse”. Psira is also an uninhabited island north of Crete in beautiful Greece. This island is very barren and light grey tabby, just like the coat of the beautiful Psira. The special cat was discovered by the family on a rubbish heap in Greece. A freshly born kitten in the rubbish – just like our Count Dracula, only in Greece.
The family grew and the problems took their course
When Psira was three years old, the animal-loving lady had a daughter. Now, unfortunately, the tragedy began in the family with the Greek cat. The little girl loved Psira more than anything, but was diagnosed with a severe cat allergy. The girl had to go to hospital again and again. Of course, things could not go on like this. The child’s health was at stake, as was the cat’s happiness.
Psira came to the animal shelter
The cat didn’t like getting on with the other residents at the shelter and became increasingly stressed. Psira was placed in a single room, which of course did not improve the situation. The young mum immediately collected Psira from the shelter to pass her on to another lady who wanted to take her in. Perhaps it turned out that Psira was not happy with the back and forth and, above all, not happy. Psira behaved strangely in her new home and was not trusted. So she was returned to the family with the highly allergic child.
Alone in a room – that couldn’t be the future
Psira was kept away from the little girl, because being near Psira would very quickly trigger another allergic shock. So where to put the cat? Locking her up was not and could not be the solution.
Above all, Psira loves being outside, feeling the sun and maybe catching a mouse somewhere. Locked up in a room, the cat finds neither the one nor the other. Frustration grew, the cat’s eyes were restless. The family also knew the Gut Aiderbichl farms and desperately asked as a last resort, and they were lucky. With a clean bill of health, Psira was allowed to become an Aiderbichler. The cat was a little stressed for the first few days, but she has now settled in really well. She strolls and creeps around the yard like a Greek goddess and enjoys her life. And surprise: she also likes dogs.
It is only thanks to your support, dear Aiderbichler and animal lovers, that we can help cats like Psira and give them a forever home. Please continue to help us with a small donation or sponsorship for pretty Psira. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your support.
