Cat Teufelchen and
tomcat Carlo

What to do with them in times of human need?

From the perspective of an Aiderbichler

(written by Gisela Pschenitschnig)

Fate does not ask about age or origin, nor does it give an answer as to how everything should continue when it strikes.

A young woman became a care case and her condition required her to be permanently placed in a care facility. Her pets Teufelchen and Carlo had to be cared for. The parents have three dogs in their own home. The parents felt overwhelmed by their daughter’s sudden new situation and asked Gut Aiderbichl for help. The tragic story reached its climax when the daughter also died.

For a few weeks now, Teufelchen and Carlo have been living at the Gut Aiderbichl animal shelter in Osnabrück.

"When we help animals, we also help people ..."

The philosophy of Gut Aiderbichl understands help for the weak as all-encompassing help, which of course also includes people. If an animal owner is struck by a stroke of fate in the middle of their life and is no longer able to care for their animals, we have to look and help.

The parents of the woman concerned were also overwhelmed by the situation.(…) “Please help us!!! We visited you at an open day a few months ago, but we had no idea at the time that we would urgently need your help. (…). Anita Hartner, Gut Aiderbichl Osnabrück, had to put the family off because there was no room for Teufelchen and Carlo at the time. But two weeks later, the cats could be assured that they would be taken in.

Dieter Ehrengruber and his team have been working in a solution-orientated way for many years in the interests of animals and people. Likewise, the Gut Aiderbichl staff do not put their “scolding fingers” up in the air. Behind every animal fate is a human fate. It is necessary to talk to each other, to analyse and understand things, to find a solution to the satisfaction of all parties involved. We would also like to take this opportunity to thank all Aiderbichler sponsors, without whose support it would be difficult to turn many a sad human and animal fate into a happy one.

Teufelchen and Carlo will not forget their previous owner

On the day the cats were taken in, the daughter died in an accident. What do some people have to go through? The day on which the daughter’s funeral was to take place was also the day on which Teufelchen and Carlo were taken in. This is a situation that actually requires you to sit down for two minutes, close your eyes and let this tragic film play out. Simply give yourself time to feel and perhaps understand this situation.Did Little Devil and Carlo feel and sense what was happening around them? Many people are of the opinion that cats go their own way and see humans as food can openers. However, cats, like dogs, also form close bonds with other cats and their owners. For cats, their owner is their source of security. When they are stressed, they feel good, safe and secure with their humans.Cats have emotions similar to humans. There is therefore no reason to assume that a cat feels nothing when it cuddles up to you on the sofa, but rather that it is a sign that it feels trust and affection.Although Teufelchen and Carlo initially withdrew into their new surroundings with Anita and meowed more in the new situation than in the familiar surroundings of their deceased previous owner, they are now settling more and more into their new, safe and secure living situation and environment. Carlo, with his beautiful white chest patch, is still keeping an elegant low profile, while Teufelchen has come to terms with his flatmates.

My pet is not just an animal - it's family!

The cat family on property Aiderbichl Osnabrück has gained two new members, Teufelchen and Carlo, who can spend their twilight years in peace and cosiness with all the other cats. May they have a good, happy time with all their fellow cats.
Wishing the family much strength during this difficult time.

Your thoughtful Gisela.
