Sammy and Egon
two chinchillas tell
Our animal emergency center got an E-Mail asking us to take in two chinchillas about eight months old. The owners had been looking for a new home for some time, but unfortunately without success.
A meeting with Anna, the colleague responsible for wild animals and rodents, revealed that fate meant well for the beautiful animals, and they were able to move to Gut Aiderbichl Henndorf.
Keeping an animal is a responsible business
Many people, whether child or adult, want an animal companion in their home. At first, everything seems fine, then various events can condemn this coexistence to disintegration: an allergy to animal hair, the financial means are missing, the new landlord does not allow animals, the neighbors feel bothered by various animal odors or noises, the vacation is coming...the animal must give way.
Sammy and Egon
now live with some other chinchillas at Gut Aiderbichl Henndorf. The two have quickly settled in and bring us all great joy.
"Oh, look, that's a pretty chinchilla girl. Do you know her name? Somehow it seems to me that all the animals on this Aiderbichl estate have a name, just like us. Egon, have you heard Anna call this pretty chinchilla?" Sammy says to Egon.
"No, I hear fine, but no, I didn't really get the name. Ah, here comes Anna. Now let's prick up our ears so we can find out what this chinchilla beauty is called!" Egon whispers.
When Anna comes to her charges, there is joyful activity among the chinchillas. Her coming usually means that the enclosures are cleaned, fresh food is replenished and the hiding and cuddling places are cleaned.
"Yes, Sammy and Egon. How are you? Look, I have brought some good nibbles. And very important for you, a sand bath, for the care... Well, see you later, I'll come by again!". Anna loves these soft, fuzzy chinchillas with the big googly eyes.
That's when Pit speaks up: "Hello you two new guys. We are a wonderful chinchilla community here. Welcome. Pit lies down in the sand bath to do some grooming. Egon and Sammy will then join this sand bath.
These beautiful animals are originally from South America and live there in crevices and caves. With a little patience, they also become tame and can be stroked. The rodents are crepuscular and nocturnal and are therefore not suitable as playmates for children. They are supposed to sleep at night so that they can concentrate on school the next day.
Chinchillas can live between 15 and 20 years. So there is still a lot to do, because the beautiful animals remain funny and highly active until advanced age.
