Cow Josefa
ran away from the butcher...
There arethings between heaven and earth, that never cease to amaze you.
Jule and Frieda, two cattle from a burnt-down barn, were adopted by Gut Aiderbichl, and now live at the AiderbichlMoosfeldhof.
The owner isa farmer and butcher and wanted to drive Josefa on the transporter to the slaughterhouse, when she decided to run for her life.
Well, what was that?
On the day, when Jule and Friedawent out on the Aiderbichler transporterwere loaded, a cow – Josefa – came running along the path. Josefa was unstoppable and our colleagues, who were on their way to the car, stopped in amazement to take a look at the spectacle.
Christian Kögl, the manager of the Moosfeldhof farm, called the farmer in the evening to find out about the escaped cow. Christian couldn’t get the escaping Josefa out of his mind. Apparently but Josefa had found her way back tothe farm. The cow was notto be slaughteredand Christian discussed this with the farmer. Josefa was boughtfree, and the very next day the excited cow Josefawas brought to Moosfeldhof.
Stupid cow my arse
Cattle are intelligent and curious animals. In the herd of cattle, they live as friends and build up close friendships. Of course, there is a strict hierarchy in the herds. It’s a bit like humans: some are shy, others are bolder and more adventurous. Every cow has its role in the herd.
Maybe Josefa felt that her life should end at the slaughterhouse? But perhaps she simply wanted to accompanyherfriends Frieda and Jule?
There are always interesting paths in the lives of humans and animals. Possibly it just had to bethat Josefa ran off, and the Aiderbichlerstaff became aware of her?
The happy coincidences in the lives of animals
Christian Kögl is a passionate cattle rescuer. Eight years ago,he broke the chain of a young bull. This bull is now nine years old. He has become a symbolic animal against tethering.
Bandit has captured the hearts of many millions of people. A film on YouTube shows the release from the chain and the subsequent dance of joy of the Bandit. Christian Kögl, who was supposed to pick up cattle from thestable, the boy fell, loudly mooing bull caught the eye, who was about to learn what it means to live in the tied-up position. 40 cm long was the chain around his neck. Bandit went to his knees – perhaps he was signalling “Get me out of here!”. The dance of joy after the liberation moves to tears andstunsespecially thosepeoplewho think that cattle are stupid and dumb, who think that cattle are stupid and emotionless.
Josefa will also have known, why she draws attention to herselfe. She now lives at Moosfeldhof and one of her special friends is Christian Kögl.
