Day of the puppies 2025
Penni and her seven puppies
Responsibility and protection: our motto for Puppy Day
We would like to tell the story of Penni and her puppies on 23 March, because it is Puppy Day. A day that not only celebrates the cuteness of the little four-legged friends, but also carries a deeper meaning: responsibility and protection. Because many puppies around the world see the light of day under precarious circumstances. It is these poor souls who urgently need our commitment, our care and our love.
Protecting the most vulnerable
Many puppies are born on the street, without protection, without food and often without hope. Many of them do not survive the first few months. The situation is also dramatic for the mother animals, who desperately try to raise their young in inhospitable areas. Without castration, however, they continue to reproduce uncontrollably. Their suffering and struggle for survival is further exacerbated by the number of stray dogs. Often the animals are left with nothing but hunger and cold. That is why we are committed to helping strays in many European countries, including our rescue centre in Romania.

Hope for a dog mum and her puppies
Penni, a stray dog, found herself in just such a hopeless situation. She was discovered in Greece by an animal-loving woman huddled in the tall grass at the side of the road – together with her seven newborn puppies. When Penni looked at her rescuer with her big brown eyes, full of hope and fear at the same time, it was clear: this little family urgently needed help. In cooperation with local animal welfare organisations, Penni and her puppies were brought to a rescue centre. Here they were slowly nursed back to health. But that alone was not enough. The animal-loving woman wanted to bring Penni and her seven puppies to Germany to give them the chance of a loving home. Thanks to the support of Gut Aiderbichl, this dream became a reality.
Now Alekos, Otto,Foli, Boby, Penelope, Fredo, Bibi and Paula are on their way to Gut Aiderbichl together with their brave mum Penni. Their fate is representative of so many puppies who are born as strays and are waiting for help, shelter and a second chance.
A day that calls for action
What better day than Puppy Dayto draw attention to the fact that puppies are in need all over the world – they need protection, responsibility and a loving home. VMaybe Penni’s story can be a spark of hope and create awareness for all the other little souls still waiting for their happiness.
