Curious Dobby
Was on the lookout for a new friend
Dobby could already tell a little life story himself. More than six years ago, Dobby flew to a family quite debilitated. It is assumed that he spent quite a while in freedom, because in the first months he imitated bird calls from nature in his aviary.
His way brought Dobby to people who were looking for a budgie - partner for their Dobby. He was older, but everything went well and Dobby was not alone. Now the older parakeet has passed away, and it is the great desire to find for Dobby conspecifics with whom he can live together.
" ... one of them would be alone again at some point ..."
The fact is that being alone would never stop, because one of the two budgies - if one had looked for a new partner for Dobby again - would have been alone again at some point.
The animal-loving people had seen that there was an aviary with budgies at Gut Aiderbichl Iffeldorf's Begegnungshof, and so they came up with the idea of asking Gut Aiderbichl's animal emergency center to take in their Dobby.
Coco, Bella, Arthur, Kiki, Hermann, Hansi and Franzi immediately accepted the beautiful white and blue Dobby into their circle. It now seems that eight-year-old Dobby no longer has to worry about partnerships. Dobby is thoroughly likeable, bright and adaptable. So it was absolutely no problem for the Iffeldorf budgies to accept him ad hoc with joy.
Keeping budgies alone is absolutely not an option
Budgiee are extremely social birds and, therefore, if you want to keep keep them privately, you must be prepared to meet their basic needs. This includes at least one social partner. Budgie cock and hen, or else budgerigar cock and rooster, understand each other completely without problems.
So that the beautiful feathered animals do not feel lonely, the attitude as a pair or, still better, in a small group, as we have it in Iffeldorf, is the Allerbest for the animals.
Grief and behavioral problems can arise when one of the bird partners dies. Budgies are different, and so their grief is different.
The homeland Australia is a common feature of the colorful birds
It was the explorer John Gould (1804-1881), who brought the first budgies to Europe in 1840. Listening to the colorful budgies and watching their merry goings-on is quite a joy.
Dobby is happy - let's wish him a long and happy life. and healthy life with his new friends in Iffeldorf.
Animals, like humans, feel joy and pain, happiness and unhappiness.
