Apollo the dog
Corona brought a farewell forever
For eleven years, the black Labrador mongrel Apollo’s life was fine. He loved his owners and was a loyal companion and friend, especially to his owner.
The owner had been suffering from blocked blood vessels for several years and had several stents implanted. Walks with Apollo were the highlight of the sick man’s life. All seemed well with the world.
Corona brought the sad turnaround for Apollo and "the pack"
In March, the owner fell ill with corona and the man’s already fragile health was hit even harder. It has become absolutely impossible for him to go for walks with his friend Apollo. The stent implants are closed and a few days ago he had to undergo another operation. Apollo’s mum is now back at work to earn money. The situation became increasingly hopeless and the couple asked for their beloved dog to be taken in.
The separation was unavoidable
Apollo is now in a group of dogs at Gut Aiderbichl Henndorf. He was insecure and sad at first. What he does enjoy are the daily walks and playing with his fellow dogs on the meadow.
Apollo is now moving around so much that he has already lost a little weight and is incredibly happy when he can go outside.
How is Apollo really doing?
You can interpret his body language and observe his eating behaviour. We have the impression that Apollo is doing well. Dogs always live in the present and don’t think about the future or the past. Apollo is interested in the present, and there are a lot of new things going on at the moment. His pack, in which he lived for eleven years, has more or less dissolved for him. But Apollo certainly sensed that his owner’s health was not good and perhaps he was worried about it.
Apollo has now found many new friends
All the keepers love him – the black Apollo with the beautiful eyes and the smile on his face. When he’s happy, he smiles, and usually when he goes out into nature. He wags his tail and is happy when it says “Come on Apollo, let’s go for a walk!”.
Apollo is looking for “new” people – give him a chance.
