Dog Marley
A dog doesn’t know how to write love, but it knows exactly how to show it every day
When a family member dies, the shock doesn’t just affect us humans, but always their pets too. When Marley’s owner died suddenly, the fox terrier was hit twice over. Not only did he suddenly lose his most important carer – Marley’s owner was unfortunately also unable to be there for him to the extent that Marley desperately needed.
The fox terrier became increasingly sad and withdrew from the outside world.
The way out of a dark tunnel
Marley’s owner was very worried about his faithful friend, but he couldn’t change the situation. He asked Dieter Ehrengruber for help and Marley found a wonderful place in Selina and Alexia’s dog room.
Marley’s strength came back – attention and love helped
Over time, the handsome fox terrier mix became more active, approachable and cuddly around his fellow dogs. Bitch Alexia became his favourite friend. When the two of them were together, it was as if Alexia was comforting him by saying: “Look, we’re fine here. We have everything we need. We’ll be fine!”.
The dog carers also became important caregivers for Marley. He greeted them happily every day. He always enjoyed playing with the other dogs on the dog run, but never took his eyes off “his humans”.
Joy, friends, cuddles… slowly the “real” Marley returned. He put on weight again and his health improved noticeably. And to everyone’s amazement, it even turned out that Marley loves search games more than anything! His gentle terrier nose then darts across the floor as fast as the wind, restlessly searching for hidden treats! It goes without saying that he is always the first to find all the treats, doesn’t it?
Alone in the room is not an option
Marley’s integration into his small dog group was very important for him. It was always the worst thing for Marley when he was alone in the dog room – even if only for a few minutes. Because he clearly couldn’t and didn’t want to be alone!
He would then start to whine pitifully, as if to say: “Hello, I’m here! Don’t forget me!”. As soon as the door opened again and a dog carer had time for him again, Marley barked happily, jumped up and his beautiful eyes lit up. Everything was suddenly good again.
We found a nice special foster place for Marley
Marley really needed more company from loving people. Being alone is simply not for him and makes him sad. That’s why it’s all the better that a great foster home has been found for Marley. He has now become a really happy fox terrier and we are very happy for him. Of course, Marley will remain an Aiderbichler for life and can return to us at any time.
The lives of all living beings, be they humans, animals or others, are precious and all have the same right to be happy.
Everything that populates our planet, the birds and the wild animals, are our companions. They are part of our world, we share it with them. (Dalai Lama)
