Rocky was able to leave his past behind him

Rocky, the sweetest Turkish street dog with a devastating story

From the perspective of an Aiderbichler (written by Gisela Pschenitschnig)

Rocky’s story of sufferingtells the many fates of street dogs and strays in various countries around the world. Avisibly somebodydrove it. someone drove himdownwith the car. They left the injured Rocky his fate, and so he lay by the side of the road until he was discovered.
The scene with the targeted run-down had been filmed. What had happened here? How cruel must a person be to “deliberately” hit a dog with a car and leave it lying injured? Maybe even film it himself?

"But it is a strange fact that the horror loses its horror when it is repeated again and again." (Michael Ende)

For some people it is “normal” to torture animals: you cut off their ears, you kill cigarette butts on their little bodies, you cut off cats’ tails, you gouge out animals’ eyes, you tie animals up somewhere to let them die. Where do you start and where do you stop working against such cruel activities?

A dedicated animal rights activist who campaigns for neutering learnt of Rocky’s fate and took action. For her, the horror never ends and she continues to help animals in need with all her strength.
During her research, she learnt that Rocky had been placed in an animal shelterthat was unable to take care of Rocky’s treatment. The animal welfare activist Uras Nilüfer (Instagram account: @nil_ufer27) therefore took Rocky out of the shelter and brought him to a veterinary clinic. Initial measures were immediately initiated there – he had internal bleeding, was blind in one eye and had bruises. He was very depressed but thankfully recovered from his injuries. Rocky learnt again that not all people are bad and hurt him. He gained confidence and many people took an interest in Rocky’s fate. Rocky would not have been able to stay in the clinic for the rest of his life and would have walked the streets again – hell would have started all over again.

Rocky should go to a forever home at Gut Aiderbichl

Erescuing a dog from abroadrequires numerous legal and veterinary procedures, requires compliance with numerous legal and veterinary procedures. The animal welfare activist took care of all the documents for Rocky’s transport and asked Gut Aiderbichl’s animal emergency centre to pick him up from Turkey. She wanted anyhow a life for Rocky away from life on Turkish streets.

Accompanied by best wishes for his future, Nilüfer released Rocky into the care of Gut Aiderbichl. “He deserves to find a good, loving home!” – with these words they handed Rocky over. The plane flew with Rocky towards Austria – and now he has a safe home at Gut Aiderbichl in Henndorf found, where he arrived safely.

"All the mischief that happens is not only the fault of those who do it, but also of those who don't prevent it." (Erich Kästner)

Rocky gains confidence and loves his new surroundings

Rocky was lovingly adopted by the animal carers. Over the past few weeks, he has been increasingly endearing himself to his carers. He is happy to go out into the forest or onto the meadow to romp around with his mates.

I seem to have forgotten what happened to him in Turkey. We have the impression that Rocky has left his physical and psychological problems behind him. Somewhere as the crow flies between Turkey and Austria, he has thrown the past overboard.

Let’s take a look and help where we can. Every life on this earth is a part of the whole. With this in mind, Yours sincerely, Gisela
