Ducks Emi, Bely, Lena
The runner ducks Emi, Bely and Lena make Gustav’s heart overflow with joy
The pet owner’s house is in a flood zone and needs to be demolished. She herself is now a sprightly 80 years old and has to move into a flat where she cannot keep her three pets in a species-appropriate way.
For many years, the animal-loving lady has “believed” in Gut Aiderbichl’s work for the welfare of the animals and called the emergency centre, saying: “I really hope that they will find a new home at Gut Aiderbichl and that their exercise will be a success.
experience is assured …” – She was right.
Emi, Bely and Lena cavort with all the other funny ducks and geese at Köglerhof Gut Aiderbichl Carinthia.
Emi, Bely and Lena belong to the penguin ducks
Emi, Bely and Lena are runner ducks, also known as Indian runner ducks or false ducks. In any case, the runner is descended from the mallard and belongs to the penguin ducks. Due to their high legs, running ducks are better on foot than mallards. Emi, Bely and Lena can only fly to a limited extent due to their physical characteristics. With its steeply upturned neck and slender body, the running duck can move forwards quickly and briskly. Runner ducks are lively and alert and want to get to know everything around them.Emi, Bely and Lena are waterfowl by nature and need water to feed, groom their feathers and swim. This is precisely why it is impossible and not species-appropriate to keep a long-tailed duck indoors.
Relief for hobby gardeners – biological slug exterminators in the garden
A pair of runner ducks is perfectly capable of ridding a garden of around 1,000 square metres of slugs and snails. That’s why these agile animals love to be kept in the garden to eat snails and their eggs. However, when they can’t find any more snails, they go for the green salad – something you have to be aware of, if you’ll pardon the pun.
Gustav’s heart overflows with joy
Gustav and Anton, two Cholmogory ganters, were taken in two years ago at Gut Aiderbichl in Carinthia. Anton was “in love” with his owner and followed her wherever she went. He even forgot to take a bath when he heard the elderly woman’s voice.
Gustav’s love had always belonged to the runner ducks. And the “newcomers” to the group, Emi, Bely and Lena, are particularly fond of Gustav the drake. And so Gustav waddles along with the ladies all day long and also takes a bath with them.
The soul is the same in all living beings, only the body is different.

Well then – a long, healthy and happy life for our chattering friends at Gut Aiderbichl in Carinthia.
