Eloy and Toxy
Two cats in luck
Both cats are foundlings and were brought to a veterinary clinic by their rescuers. After neither Eloy nor Toxy’s owner could be found, the call for help reached Gut Aiderbichl, where they have now found a suitable forever home for cats in Maria Schmolln’s outdoor courtyard.
Fight for survival
The one-year-old black tomcat Eloy was discovered in a barn. Very thin, very snuffy and weak, Eloy was brought to the veterinary clinic. The health check revealed a diagnosis of leukaemia. Hence the young cat’s snuffles and lack of appetite.
In Maria Schmolln, Eloy is recovering wonderfully and gaining a lot of weight. The young charmer loves cuddling with the animal carers, seeking warmth and caressing, protective hands.
The foundling has now found a big family with all the cats in Maria Schmolln and is enjoying his young feline life more and more every day. Eloy has everything here: love, care, food and lots of other cats to play with.
Quarantine for Toxy
Twelve-year-old Toxy is grey-brown tabby and was found on the side of the road. Toxy’s health check revealed that she suffers from toxoplasmosis. This is also an infectious disease against which the cat can build up an immune defence in the course of its life.
Our Toxy is currently still living in the quarantine room in Maria Schmolln.
Since she has been in loving care, Toxy’s coat has become beautiful. It is shiny and silky and she is the absolute world champion in purring.
The disease has probably affected her central nervous system. Toxy does not move in a straight line, but turns in circles when she moves forwards. Presumably this “turning in circles” will remain with her. But one thing is clear: Toxy has a zest for life and trusts her carers. She is simply happy to be alive. We hope that the next test will be negative and that she will be able to join her mates.
Every life is worth living
Eloy and Toxy brought health problems with them, but it turns out once again that there is a solution for everything. Both will manage to lead a good life and both thank the people who help them with their familiar behaviour.
The lives of all living beings, be they human, animal or otherwise, are precious, and all have the same right to be happy.
Everything that populates our planets, the birds and the wild animals are our companions. They are part of our world, we share it with them.
