Donkeys Elsa and Gina conquer the hearts
From the perspective of Gut Aiderbichl
(written by Gisela Pschenitschnig)
For many years a married couple raised organic sheep. The animal-loving people retired, the sheep breeding ended and instead they got two donkey mares: Elsa and Gina.
Unexpectedly, the husband died and the widow was overwhelmed with the farm and everything that went with it.
The daughter-in-law turned to Dieter Ehrengruber. Donkeys are special animals for him too, so he immediately agreed to take in Elsa and Gina.
The donkey - a little psychotherapist
The donkey is stubborn and stupid - think many people. On the contrary, donkeys are intelligent, very sensitive and great thinkers. It's a proud animal, and does almost everything that man asks of him. He does not want to be beaten, he wants to be stroked tenderly and he loves it when you massage his long ears.
The donkey feels the state of mind of man and wants to be his friend. Donkeys are like little psychotherapists for nervous, frightened or hurt animals and people.
The forever home is the Köglerhof in Carinthia
In a comfortably equipped van of the animal rescuers of Gut Aiderbichl, the two donkey mares were picked up from their farm of origin and driven to Markus Leitner, the administrator of the Köglerhof in Carinthia.
Donkeys are highly sensitive animals and so possibly the Carinthian donkeys Odysseus, Pedro, Sam and Winnetou have guessed who or what will be led out of the transporter? With raised ears and attentive eyes the two donkey ladies Elsa and Gina were received by the four donkey masters. A little shyly, the two donkey mares looked to the side and Markus was immediately on the spot. First of all, they went to the prepared stable.
Elsa and Gina are still very young
Elsa, two years old, and Gina, three years old, have a whole donkey's life ahead of them and can live up to 50 years if they are in good health.
Markus observes the new arrivals and says: "...In the pasture, I let the donkey geldings and donkey mares be with each other. Elsa and Gina, however, still prefer to keep rather aloof. Although, they look already stealthily to the feschen donkey geldings over. That still takes time, they arrived here only a week ago. But one thing works: when feeding time comes, the "Iah" of Elsa and Gina is almost twice as loud as that of Odysseus, Pedro, Sam and Winnetou. A few more weeks and Elsa and Gina will be the bosses!
We wish Elsa and Gina all the best and a quite long, happy life at Köglerhof in Carinthia. The conditions for this are given. Sincerely, Yours Gisela
