Susi

A missing dog found its master again

Once upon a time, there was a sweet little dog … – Susi’s story could start like this. Romantic and playful.
Susi is a mixed-breed dog with silky, soft fur and large, bluegoggle eyes. She and her master were like a pot and its lid, but now: where was the master?

Susi had run away

Normally, Susi sits next to her owner with her seatbelt fastened when he drives his big lorry around the country. Susi is a good listener and listens to all her master’s joys and disasters without contradicting him.

One day, after a break, the lorry driver notices that Susi has absconded. He calls out and searches, but there is no Susi to be found for miles around. With a heavy heart, he has to drive on and the tragedy begins to unfold.

Susi was used to driving a car ...

… and so Susi was discovered on the motorway near Puch, Salzburg. The Austrian Animal Rescue was contacted, where Susi was now safe. The little dog spent the night there and was to be brought to Gut Aiderbichl the next day.

Everything was done immediately to give Susi a home for the next four weeks, which is how long the “safekeeping obligation” lasts. In the meantime, we hoped to be able to find the owner of the adorable dog after all.

Health check and then admission to a dog room

Susi’s blue eyes grew bigger and bigger and she looked around frantically as they weighed her. The scales showed that little Susi had a few deca too many on her tummy. Her claws needed trimming and her coat also needed cleaning. Where on earth had Susi been?”

The next day came the first walk across the yard in Henndorf. Susi tucked her tail in a little at first, because there were lots of donkeys, ponies and pigs – Susi was familiar with cars, but obviously not so good with large animals. Every day she became more confident and her eyes no longer looked so excited.

In the meantime, her owner wrote desperate messages on social media, hoping that someone had found his beloved little Susi.

A colleague noticed a photo on Facebook – Susi was found.

How does a dog owner feel when his dog runs off?

Sometimes all it takes is a second and the dog is gone. The door is open, the dog seizes the opportunity and is off and running. You see him running and have no chance of following him, or: he’s gone and you have no idea how that happened. That or something similar happened in the case of little, lively Susi.

The dog is on a journey of discovery and the owner has a thousand thoughts running through his head. However, the thoughts don’t bring the little runaway back, but hope dies last.
