Clever badger and little button
Two capricious goats
Some time ago, we received an e-mail from an Aiderbichler woman. She and her husband had been looking after a care centre for rabbits, guinea pigs and dogs for a long time. At some point, three goats also joined this little Noah’s Ark.
In 2016, the family’s son passed away and the health of the animal-loving lady deteriorated noticeably. It even got to the point where she could only move around in a wheelchair.
Her husband was now caring for the animals in the care centre and, of course, his wife with great dedication, but circumstances demanded a new living area and unfortunately the animals could not come with her.
The call for help was followed by the two goats and the rabbits
Clever badger and little button
The two have settled in very well at the Eslarn farm and are always in the mood for a joke. Michael, the estate manager, has a good laugh with the goats every day.
Eslarn is home to 44 goats, who have now welcomed Cheeky Goat and Button into their sociable circle. Goats are very capricious, but there is one thing they absolutely need: a herd to live in. In Eslarn, the dwarf goats live near the horse farm and the big goats spend their lives with the sheep near the cattle farm.
There is a strict hierarchy in a herd of goats, to which Cheeky Goat in particular does not necessarily adhere. But otherwise he wouldn’t be a real cheeky goat! Knöpfchen is a little easier to look after and more level-headed. Eating is also about the hierarchy, which of course doesn’t interest Cheeky Badger. The barn is built in such a way that every goat has its place and its food.
Cheeky badger and little button are very curious
Goats are curious and inventive. Sheep panic when in danger, but goats are not really fazed by anything. If the situation demands it and things get dicey, a goat will make three jumps and think “should I really run away or can I wait this out?”…
Goats and dogs are not natural friends
By nature, the goat is at war with the dog. The dog is associated with the wolf, the natural enemy of sheep and goats. When a goat goes after a dog to defend itself, it tries to poke the soft belly with the tips of its horns. Is it because of the Aiderbichler goats that they don’t want to harm the dogs? Our goats are relaxed and no dog needs to be afraid of them. Even Cheeky Badger and Knöpfchen let the dogs walk past in peace, perhaps because they lived with the couple with dogs. Who knows… in any case, we are very happy that the two of them make us smile every day.
It is only thanks to your support, dear Aiderbichler and animal lovers, that we can help animals and people in emergency situations. This is how Frechdachs and Knöpfchen have found a new home until the end of their natural lives. Please continue to support us with a small donation or sponsorship. Thank you very much and stay healthy.
