Fritzi the cat

Unfortunately, she was not allowed to go to the nursing home

Cats, dogs, guinea pigs, canaries … animals that people have integrated into their lives. They became friends and thus inseparable.
Again and again, Gut Aiderbichl receives requests to take in animals from people who have to go into a care home for health or age-related reasons.

Animals cannot go into a nursing home

Perhaps this system will change at some point. At the moment, for hygiene reasons, cats and dogs, for example, are not allowed in care homes.

“But I was my people’s favourite. We lived together for many years and where am I going now?” – Fritzi the cat asked herself as she slipped into this “homeless” situation.

An Aiderbichler woman anxiously asked for Fritzi to be taken in

We received an email from a long-time Aiderbichler asking to take in one of her foster cats. She has a feeding centre for stray cats and also has 5 purr-fect tigers of her own.
We learnt that Fritzi’s owners had to go into a care home and were unable to take their cat, whom they had loved dearly, with them. Fritzi was now homeless and without care. The cat seemed healthy and the lady lovingly took him in. She also took him for a health check straight away. The blood test revealed that Fritzi was FiV positive. The disease can only be transmitted from cat to cat.

With this disease, however, the cat must be separated from healthy animals. Actually, there was already a place in a cat shelter, but the crushing diagnosis caused the admission to waver.

And so came the quiet enquiry

to Gut Aiderbichl. Fritzi was accepted and we brought her to Gut Aiderbichl Traisen. Old, sick and orphaned cats live together peacefully there.
The mum cat was happy and Fritzi is happy, even though the cat can no longer purr for her long-time owners. Fritzi lives in Traisen in a group of FiV infected cats and enjoys being with the others.

With good care and by following a few rules, Fritzi can live a few more happy years with the virus without the disease breaking out and causing symptoms. Fritzi says: “Thanks to your support, I have found a place and can enjoy my life to the full…”

It is only thanks to your support that we can help animals like Fritzi and give them a home for life. Please continue to support us with a donation or a symbolic sponsorship. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts – stay healthy!
