Dwarf goat Flecki
and the "rocking" siblings Doro and Lemmy
From the perspective of an Aiderbichler
(written by Gisela Pschenitschnig)
For several years now, a family from Leipzig has been going on holiday with their daughter Sarah to a farm in Carinthia, Austria. The family has known the dwarf goat Flecki, who lives there and is now 18 years old, for four years.
Last year, when the family was on holiday in Carinthia again, Flecki was pregnant and gave birth to two adorable goats, Doro and Lemmy. At least one of the kids should have been slaughtered.
Doro and her brother Lemmy owe their names to two singers
A week after the family left, two kids were born and the farmers sent the family photos of Flecki’s offspring.
Sarah named Doro after her favourite singer Doro, who is also committed to animal welfare, among other things. Lemmy was named after the late singer Lemmy (band Moörhead), who was a good friend of Doro’s. Interesting names for interesting animals.
Today's children are tomorrow's animal welfare activists
Sarah sent a letter to the animal emergency centre at Gut Aiderbichl. It states that the farmers had given Flecki and her children Doro and Lemmy to the family. It was impossible for the family to keep the animals in their private area, but they immediately came up with the idea of asking Gut Aiderbichl to take them in.
This ensured that the goat family stayed alive, and Sarah wanted the most beautiful place for her animals – and, that is, for the young girl Sarah, Gut Aiderbichl. Sarah has a heart for animals, she shows respect and love for the goat family and quickly came up with a personal plan to keep the animals alive.
Looking, wanting to help and taking action – how wonderful when children show this courage and don’t let up until their wish can be fulfilled.
Flecki, Doro and Lemmy feel at home in their new forever home
Mum Flecki and her two kids always walk around the farm in a trio and greet visitors with a beguilingly beautiful bleat. Their eyes are curious, they want to know everything and nothing escapes the goats, who are also known for their intelligence and curiosity.
Our Moritz has already learnt how interesting prams and the bananas or biscuits hidden in them are. No wonder, Moritz the black goat has years of experience searching through prams.Sarah took a look and fell in love with the animals, saving lives. Flecki, Doro and Lemmy will be delighted to receive a visit from their rescuer when she and her family are on holiday in Carinthia again.
Herzlichst, Ihre Gisela.
