Jimi, James and Janis
Three abandoned orphans
Three to four-month-old kittens - Jimi, James and Janis - were left in a cardboard box on an elderly lady's doorstep three days before New Year's Eve. The temperatures were below freezing. A soft, pitiful meowing made the woman sit up and take notice. Carefully, she opened the box and three completely frightened kittens jumped out. There was only one good solution for them: The animal-loving woman took the box and got into her car. The drive went to Gut Aiderbichl Henndorf, where our animal keepers immediately knew what to do.
Loving care saves lives
Jimi, James and Janis had severe colds, sticky eyes, were weak and intimidated. Their lives didn't have obviously a good start.
The health check showed that the three foundlings were otherwise in perfect health, but unfortunately we could not look into their souls. The animal caretakers know enough about such situations and tried to make the little velvet paws feel comfortable. Cat baskets with warm fleece blankets contributed to this, their fur began to shine, because they received even more petting than all the animals in Henndorf. Their small, sticky eyes were healed with cheese poplar tea and eye drops. Their growling tummies shall never growl again and were given the best cat food we have from the very beginning.
At some point, the eyes of the animal keepers began to compete with the cat's eyes. The love and care defeated Jimi, Janis and James' feeling of having been born unwanted. They meowed, because they were full and healthy, because they loved to play with each other and with the people around them. The three cats were able to learn that there are people who value their existence.
Thanks to people who love and respect animals, we were able to find wonderful special foster homes for Janis and Jimi. Little James is still waiting for a place. Unlike his siblings Jimi and Janis, James is very quiet and shy. His body language is on "caution". However, once he gets over this "caution hurdle", he purrs and loves with all abandon. James would make a great second cat, maybe he will get lucky and you will be his new owner?
James - a symbol of morality
Is morality only for humans or also for animals? Both species are living beings with organs, feelings and the desire for respect and love.
The cat is one of people's favourite pets. We must not forget what responsibility means: having living beings around us, caring for them, respecting them and treating them well.
The globe consists of many puzzle pieces: oceans, continents, plants, people and animals. All the pieces want to be cared for and want to live. The path of rethinking is a slow process that winds its way across the globe.
