Kiku
A new cat at Gut Aiderbichl Maria Schmolln
Cats are the most popular pets in German-speaking countries. They live in private households, on the farm or on the street.
About two months ago we received a cat from an animal shelter. Kiku was a found cat that had been handed in at the animal shelter.
From there came the request at Gut Aiderbichl, if we could Kiku we could take over. And lo and behold, we had space at Gut Aiderbichl Maria Schmolln.
Kiku's health check reveals health problems
Kiku is about eight years old, her coat is tricolor - mackerel, and she has one of the sweetest "Miaus" in the world.
Tests showed that Kiku has a cyst on her left kidney, and accordingly her kidney values are not in the best order.
With proper treatment, a cat with a cyst can live a healthy life. The cyst can also be removed. Cysts do not affect the kidney function and health of the cat. If it grows, it may cause pain in the back or flanks. For now, Kiku gets the best kidney food we can get.
Kiku has another problem. Her pupils show irregularity. The vets have determined that Kiku has an iris melanoma, but it does not metastasize. This melanoma is a tumor that can occur in the eye of especially older cats. Kiku's iris will probably be examined regularly and we hope that the tumor will continue not to metastasize so that Kiku can keep her eye.
Kiku feels like a million bucks
Kiku learned very quickly what it means to be a cat at Gut Aiderbichl Maria Schmolln. Every day there is food and now and then a little treat. Kiku has her own place to sleep, which no one disputes with her. She can move freely in the house and in the fenced garden.
She loves to be stroked or to cuddle on the lap of the animal keepers. And all the many cats do not cause Kiku any problems, but just joy.
We probably won't know how Kiku's life went before the animal hospital contacted Gut Aiderbichl's animal emergency center. Has she been abandoned or did Kiku run away?
Now she has a regular cat life, she is cared for, health problems can be detected and treated immediately - Kiku can lazily lie in the sun and enjoy.
Who has a cat, does not need to fear being alone ... maybe that is the reason that our cat animal caregivers never feel or fear being alone?
