Lucky pig Ronaldo

Ronaldo: Heartbreaker on four hooves

At first, Ronaldo’s story reads like many others about pets: Ronaldo was often alone during the day because his family had to work. But as soon as the front door opened and his owner called his name out loud, there was no stopping him. With swift legs, he dashed off to get his well-earned cuddles. In the evenings, he was particularly looking forward to the long cuddles. Lying cosily on the couch with his family and being cuddled – Ronaldo was happy, and his family with him.

Even sweeter than a marzipan pig

But anyone who thinks Ronaldo is a dog is completely wrong. Ronaldo is a miniature pig, often referred to as a “teacup pig”. And these little pigs are becoming increasingly popular as pets. No wonder: these lively little animals are even cuter than marzipan pigs and have plenty of charm. Mini pigs like Ronaldo are extremely intelligent and cuddly animals. Just like dogs, they can be taught commands, like to explore their surroundings and are very social creatures. But they also have a mind of their own – typical pig! That’s why they need a safe environment and fixed social partners.

"Cheat pack" mini-pig

But beware: the name “teacup pig” is misleading. Only very shortly after birth are the pigs so small that they actually fit into a teacup. Mini pigs are by no means tiny! They grow until they are about four years old and can reach a weight of between 50 and 100 kilograms. This will probably be the case with Ronaldo. At seven months old, he already weighs 12 kilograms – and there’s probably a lot more to come! For mini-pig owners, this means that space in the home can quickly become tight and keeping them in a species-appropriate environment can be a challenge.

Our cheeky little pig in the pig kindergarten

Therefore, a new home was also sought for Ronaldo. He now lives at Gut Aiderbichl in Henndorf and is really shaking up the pig kindergarten here. Pigs are curious by nature and sometimes really stubborn. The only thing that helps here is consistency – our sweet Ronaldo has probably been given in a little too often in his upbringing. That’s why he’s the cheeky one among the pigs at the pig kindergarten. When visitors come to the farm, Ronaldo is the first to demand treats and cuddles – from young and old alike. And who could resist his round, googly eyes and little pig snout?

However, whether as a cute “teacup pig” or a full-grown specimen: Ronaldo simply enchants everyone with his charming nature. We are certain that Ronaldo will win many more hearts – regardless of his size.
