The life
of the young cat Maya
was in danger
From the perspective of an Aiderbichler
(written by Gisela Pschenitschnig)
The owner of 13 cats passed away. Twelve of the cats left behind could be rehomed, but one cat, Maya, stayed with the deceased man’s neighbour. However, Maya was not really welcome by everyone in the animal-loving woman’s household and her life seemed to be in danger because there was someone who rejected her.So Maya’s rescuer turned to Gut Aiderbichl’s animal emergency centre. Up to this point, there were 912 cats living at Gut Aiderbichl, now there are 913. Maya the cat has found a new, safe and quiet home at Gut Aiderbichl in Traisen.
Maya is young and curious
Maya follows the humans in Traisen wherever they go. She loves her keepers and all the cuddles she gets from them. Perception, attention and affection come right after a full bowl of food for Maya. She is still young and loves to play. When her mates aren’t in the mood to play, Maya grabs the play rod and has a good time on her own.Maya lives in a cat flat share
Dobby and Lou are currently living with Maya in a cosy cat flat share. Dobby no longer got on with his friend, a male Persian cat, and had to be relinquished for this reason. Lou, a lively Siberian forest cat, was surrendered due to bladder weakness.Maya, Lou and Dobby do not cuddle with each other, but get along very well. Maya chooses her friends very carefully and waits and sees. Distance and privacy are extremely important to her. She accepts Dobby and his Lou.
A special foster place is being sought for Maya
Maya, at not quite three years old, is actually too young to live in a cat shelter. She is healthy and has her whole life ahead of her.So we are trying to find a place for pretty Maya where she can “assert” her cat head and get lots of cuddles.
Maybe you are the right person for little Maya? She can’t tell us her story, nor can she tell us why she is behaving the way she is. However, we also know that a cat somehow only does what it wants to do. Velvet paws are self-confident, good people watchers and always mysterious.
Cats love people much more than they want to admit, but they have enough wisdom to keep it to themselves.
~ Mary Eleanor Wilkins Freeman
The cat Maya is a good example of what humans do to animals or maywant to do to them. Maya has probably sensed that she is not welcome, and so peoplemustearn her trust.
Maya needs patience, lots of love and gentle familiarity. Everything has its time.
