Monty in distress
When a deadly virus tears at a small dog's life.
Over and over again, people from the Romanian population turn to the Gut Aiderbichl team and ask for help for their animals. When the employees of Gut Aiderbichl Romania were asked for help for a little puppy, it was immediately clear – the little guy would have to fight hard. Because the diagnosis was clear and had serious consequences: parvovirus: the worst thing that can happen to an animal welfare organisation abroad.
The parvovirus particularly affects the cells of the intestine, the bone marrow and in some cases the heart muscle. The biggest problem with such a disease is the diarrhoea, which is difficult to control and which ultimately leads to the acute death of many puppies. Young animals in particular are more likely to contract parvovirosis, which is highly contagious.

The fruit of every true struggle is peace. – Georg Ebers
The team couldn’t look away and decided to help the little puppy. We took him to the veterinary clinic where he would now fight for his life. The little puppy’s family kept contacting us to enquire about his condition. Touched by the sympathy, we agreed to let them take the puppy back home. We hoped that the little dog would find a family and that they might have changed their minds.
When the family contacted us again and told us about a relapse, carer Nicky decided to take the little puppy home and nurse him back to health. Monty, as he is now called, should have a chance at life.

For us as Aiderbichler, every life is precious and we want to endeavour to preserve every life we can. We will do everything we can to help as many animals as possible, even if we realise that we cannot always help every animal. So let’s keep our fingers crossed for our little Monty!
