Nanuk and Willow

Two former therapy horses

Money rules the world. Due to financial problems, the formertherapy horsesNanuk (30 years) and Willow (27 years) a new for-Forever-Home wanted. For many years, Haflinger Nanukand his son, Haflinger Willow, partially shwfirstto treat disabled children.
Massive cost increasesand growing financial problems of the associationrequired it,to find a new home for the two geldings.

"... I used to have a dream: all horses should stay with us for the rest of their lives ..."

Nanuk and Willow come from a therapy centre and were actively involved in therapy and education until a few years ago. It was the dream of the people at this centre that all the horses could stay with them for the rest of their lives.
However, the financial situation did not allow Nanuk and Willow to stay. A horse-friendly “retirement solution” for father and son was sought and found. Nanuk and Willow have been given a forever home in the B stable at the Gut Aiderbichl animal visitor centre in Henndorf.

The organisation from which Nanuk and Willow come is dependent on donations and voluntary work. In order to continue operations, a young therapy horse needs to be purchased. Financing future projects has become a balancing act.

Nanuk and Willow now have their teeth restored and want to eat a lot

“… When Nanuk and Willow arrived, they passed the health check with flying colours, but both horses had to have their molars removed. Since this was done, they have really come alive and want to eat a lot and are always looking in my bag for good horse treats. Nanuk in particular is almost insatiable and says “Come on, give it to me” – he won’t stop nudging me.

Father and son are now new to the B stable and are behaving quite correctly: still rather reserved towards the other horses, curious and yet full of respect for the rest of the herd. In the next few days, I think it will be time for them to stand at the hay rack with all the others, and then they will have passed the “entrance exam”.

Nanuk and Willow are very sensitive, sensitive Haflingers and you can tell that they certainly didn’t want for anything with the people who unfortunately had to give them up for financial reasons. …”. Animal keeper Liesa is delighted with her new protégés and will do everything she can to make the two Haflingers feel happy and content.

If problems can be turned into tasks, then you are already a lot closer to the solution

Even in times of crisis, Gut Aiderbichl always tries to stick to its philosophy: “We love animals. – Gut Aiderbichl is the vision of a world in which all living beings live together in absolute harmony. The prerequisite for this vision would be a humanity that unites humans, animals and nature.”

We wish Nanuk and Willow a harmonious life in the horse group of the B stable at Gut Aiderbichl Henndorf, and much joy when the pastures can be opened in a few weeks and the horses can enjoy the space and freedom.
